Quick Guide: Measuring Your Pet
IMMIGRATION

It's scary. We get it! But luckily, we've got you covered!

Immigrating with your pet is a lengthy and complicated process that has to start quite some time before the actual relocation date. Below a guide to what immigration entails. However, each country, and sometimes even the provinces in the countries, differs. Country-specific guidelines can be found below.
  • Step 1 to immigrating with your pet would be checking and confirming their Microchip Status. Without a Microchip your pet cannot travel abroad. Microchips must be older than the Rabies Vaccination. Assessing and updating your pet's vaccination records would be an important step to take along with checking the microchip. Wherever you go with your pet, the Rabies status of your dog will be extremely important.
  • For quite a number of countries (see guide below) antibody testing might be required. These tests require waiting periods and there's regulation as to how when and where vaccination is supposed to happen!
  • Your pet will also need to see a private, qualified veterinarian for a health clearance which has to be completed in a specified format. This differs from country to country.
  • Then we have to queue at the State Vet for their sign-off on all the above. All this has to happen at different stages of the immigration process.
  • Not only is the health a consideration. For the flight you will need a crate that's IATA approved for international travel. The rules are quite stringent, and deciding on the right size can be a daunting task. Our measuring guidelines (download here) could offer some assistance in this regard.
  • Your pet's flight needs to be booked, and clearance needs to be done for the import on the other side. You may also need to apply for an import permit in the destination country. We're here to help with all this.
